The Holiest city- Makkah - Muslims every year travel for perform Hajj he shrine is surrounded by vast white marble courtyards, usually filled with hundreds of thousands of pilgrims dressed in white garments (Ihram), creating a powerful visual of a spiraling white ocean moving counterclockwise around the dark structure (Tawaf).
The central visual focus of any Madina picture is the iconic Green Dome (Gumbad-e-Khizra). Built directly over the resting place of the Prophet Muhammad, its vibrant green color contrasts beautifully against the surrounding structures.
Pictures often focus on the wide, marble-paved pedestrian plaza connecting the two shrines, called Bayn al-Haramain. Lined with beautiful palm-tree-shaped light structures, it is frequently shown packed with an immense sea of pilgrims dressed in black during Muharram and Arba'in.
Najaf is the massive central dome of the shrine, which is covered in thousands of pure gold tiles. It glows brilliantly under the sun and is flanked by two equally radiant, gold covered minarets.
